Mizzou Traditions – The ‘M’

One of the hallmarks of Memorial Stadium, home to the Missouri Tigers, is the large white ‘M’ above the north endzone.

The ‘M’ is made of whitewashed rock and stands 90 feet wide and 95 feet high. Since 1927, the big M has made its home just north of Faurot Field. Each fall, Mizzou freshmen paint the rocks to make them sparkling white, and at the end of each football season, senior football players take a rock to remind them of their times in black and gold.

So next time you’re at a Mizzou game, take a moment to admire the big ‘M’ at Memorial Stadium, a Tiger tradition for nearly 100 years!
